What We Learned Managing 10+ Restaurant Outlets on Delivery Apps

Empire Marketing Team, Bangkok8 min readอ่านภาษาไทย

Short answer

Across the restaurant outlets we manage on GrabFood and LINE MAN, the changes that consistently moved sales were retargeting past customers, testing ad and targeting variations rather than designing creative, keeping menu photos and descriptions complete, and tracking order faults alongside sales. Each result below is from one specific client account and is labeled as such, never presented as an average outcome every restaurant should expect.

A note on how to read these numbers

Every figure below is from one real client account, labeled with the platform and date range it covers. None of these are averages across our client base, and none should be read as a guarantee of what any other restaurant will see. We are sharing them because specific, sourced numbers are more useful than vague claims, not because any single restaurant's outcome predicts another's.

Result 1: retargeting and order growth

One GrabFood and LINE MAN client, comparing July to August 2026 on GrabFood figures: net sales rose from 61,883 to 133,556 THB, up 115.8 percent. Earnings rose from 36,078.78 to 72,539.29 THB, up 101.1 percent. Orders rose from 195 to 415. One client account, results vary.

Result 2: two outlets, one client

One GrabFood client with two outlets, comparing a one-month period in July to a following one-month period in August to September 2026. Main outlet: sales rose from 65,413 to 96,943 THB, up 48.2 percent, orders from 333 to 416, up 24.9 percent, average basket from 196.44 to 233.04 THB, up 18.6 percent, customers from 209 to 315, with new customers rising from 138 to 229. Second outlet: sales rose from 28,963 to 56,095 THB, up 93.7 percent, orders from 165 to 257, up 55.8 percent, average basket from 175.53 to 218.27 THB, up 24.4 percent. One client account, results vary.

Result 3: retargeting's effect on repeat customers

One GrabFood client, comparing August to September 2026: net sales rose from 212,716 to 266,353 THB, up 25.22 percent. Earnings rose from 124,322 to 153,029 THB, up 23.09 percent. Customer reach rose 114.01 percent to 149,241. Total customers rose 34.49 percent to 425, including 131 repeat customers, up 48.86 percent, which we attribute to retargeting work specifically. Marketing spend of 33,229 THB returned 8.02 THB in net sales per THB spent. One client account, results vary.

Result 4: steady growth with a thinner earnings margin

One GrabFood client, comparing August to September 2026: net sales rose from 250,744 to 290,724 THB, up 15.94 percent. Repeat customers rose from 330 to 419, up 26.97 percent. Earnings rose more modestly, from 159,801.52 to 164,877.02 THB, up 3.18 percent, a reminder that sales growth and earnings growth do not always move together at the same rate. One client account, results vary.

What actually drove these results

Menu add-on suggestions, offered at the right moment, lifted average order value in several accounts. On GrabFood specifically, there is no ad creative element to design, the ad work is keyword research, testing different ad and targeting variations against each other, and adjusting bids based on competitors, not graphic design. On LINE MAN, listings only improve when the client supplies photos and descriptions, since the platform does not generate these automatically, so this remains a recurring point of coordination. Across every account, we track order delays and wrong-order incidents alongside sales figures, since these operational issues quietly damage ratings and future order volume if left unmeasured.

  • Menu add-on suggestions lift average order value when offered at the right moment.
  • GrabFood ad work is keyword and targeting testing, not creative design.
  • LINE MAN listing quality depends on the client supplying photos and descriptions.
  • Order delays and wrong-order incidents need tracking alongside sales, not after the fact.

FAQ

Are these results typical for every client?

No, each is from one specific client account over a stated period and is labeled as such. They are not averages and are not a guarantee of similar results for any other account.

Why does Result 4 show smaller earnings growth than sales growth?

Sales and earnings do not always move together at the same rate, which is exactly why we track both rather than only reporting the larger number.

What is the single most consistent lever across accounts?

Retargeting past customers shows up as a meaningful factor in multiple accounts, alongside keeping menu listings complete.

Does Grab advertising involve designing creative?

No, Grab's ad formats are largely keyword and targeting driven on a CPC basis, the lever is research and testing, not graphic design.
