What Grab commission actually covers
When a customer orders through GrabFood, Grab deducts a commission, sometimes called a service fee, from the order value before paying the restaurant out. This covers Grab's platform costs: app infrastructure, customer acquisition, payment processing, and in many plans, delivery logistics.
The commission is not a flat number across all restaurants. Grab Thailand structures it around different merchant plans, and the percentage a given restaurant pays depends on which plan it is enrolled in and what that plan includes.
The typical range
Based on Grab Thailand's own merchant-facing information, commission typically runs roughly 15% to 30% of each order, depending on plan. A restaurant on a lower-service plan may sit toward the lower end; one using more of Grab's delivery and marketing infrastructure may sit toward the higher end.
Grab's public pages do not list every tier's exact percentage, and the rate shown in your own GrabMerchant dashboard is the number that actually applies to your account. Treat the range here as context for planning, not as your specific rate.
| Commission rate | Deducted | Left for the restaurant |
|---|---|---|
| 15% | ฿15 | ฿85 |
| 22.5% (midpoint) | ฿22.50 | ฿77.50 |
| 30% | ฿30 | ฿70 |

What this means per order
The easiest way to make the range concrete is to look at what is left from a 100 THB order at different commission levels. This is simple arithmetic from the published range, not a separate claim.
Does the commission ever change?
Plans and their associated commission can change over time, and Grab periodically updates its merchant offerings. If your margin on delivery orders feels tighter than it used to, it is worth checking your current plan and commission rate directly in the GrabMerchant app rather than assuming it has stayed the same.
